The natural world is at the root of everything we do.
We utilize American hardwoods as the cornerstone of our work, however, we recognize the effects our wood usage can have on the world around us. We are continuously inspired by the rich beauty around us and the incredible detail in each tree, and we aim to protect this through sustainable practices and prioritizing the protection of our planet.
HOW DO WE PROTECT THE PLANET WHILE ALSO USING ITS RESOURCES?
We focus on ethical business standards and prioritize working with suppliers who do the same. We are proud to partnerwith lumber suppliers who practiceresponsible forestry. All of our wood is intentionally sourced from the Appalachian Region as it is a sustainable harvest region and lowers our carbon footprint with shorter travel time to our facilities.
Sustainable harvesting can be defined as “a method of harvesting that provides a constant supply of wood resources throughout the landscape, with future timber yields unaffected or improved by current harvesting methods.” To do this, foresters emulate natural disturbances with their harvesting methods, which helps maintain these balances. For instance, foresters intentionally select each tree they harvest, focusing on the weaker ones. Clearing these trees allows for healthier and/or younger trees to gain more space and sunlight to grow even stronger.
OUR COMMITMENT
In addition to focusing on sustainable harvesting, we partner with organizations that share our values, such as OneTree Planted, ZeroLandfill Columbus, OFA, and NHLA.
We’re also committed to decreasing our carbon footprint, lowering our material waste output, and making smarter material sourcing decisions by:
- Planting a tree for every tabletop sold.
- Donating fabric and leather scraps to ZeroLandfill Columbus and selling our wood waste for use as animal bedding and starter logs.
- Ethically and sustainably sourcing our raw materials by partnering with organizations like OFA and NHLA.
The natural world is a continuous source of inspiration for us, and we believe in the impact natural design has in creating a space. Most importantly, though, we care deeply about the protection of our planet and hope you join our mission for a greener world.
